The College has a number of decision-making organs whose functions collectively facilitate its administration. They bear different names, perform various functions and at different administrative levels in the College. The major ones are stated below: The Governing Council (A) Its membership is drawn from different organs of the Sokoto State Government. • Chairman • The Provost of the college • Deputy Provosts • A Secondary School Female Principal • Permanent Secretary (Min. of Edu. Sokoto) • A Secondary School Male Principal • Permanent Secretary (Min. of Finance, Sokoto) • Director of Information (Min. of Information. Sokoto) • One representative each from the following: • NUT Sokoto State Branch • The UDU Sokoto (i.e. Faculty of Education) • The State Primary Education Board • The Academic Board • The Academic Staff • The Registrar - Secretary B) Functions The Council is the highest decision-making body of the college. i) It receives and decides on all major developmental issues of the college. ii) It gives approval to such issues presented to it and its decision is final i) Through its chairman, the council deals with the State Government on behalf of the College. It acts as a powerful instrument of the College public relations at all levels. iv) It ensures the College compliance with the policies of the State Government towards achieving its educational goals. The Academic Board i) The Academic Board is headed by the Provost while the Registrar is the Secretary. Other members include all the heads of academic departments, the Deans, Directors, Deputy Provosts and the College Librarian. ii) Ensuring compliance with the NCCE and NUC regulations regarding high academic standard. iii) Proposing and/or designing new academic programme relevant to the needs of the State and national development in general. iv) Giving approval to each semester examination results of every academic department after due consideration. v) Reviewing from time to time the existing academic performance of the College artck identifying measures that could improve the intellectual out-put of the College.
